The House
This is a pretty yet simple house situated in the historic centre of a village in the Marghine hills in central Sardinia in an area of great archaeological interest, easily accessible from both the Alghero and Olbia airports. The house is bright and spacious, home to an indoor garden and a multi-lingual library. You are also greeted by multi-lingual hosts who invite you to share in the life of the village and in the produce of their kitchen garden.
What to do and see
30 minutes by car from the beautiful west coast of Sardinia, near the town of Bortigali (known as "Little Naples") and miles of warm beaches of iron-rich sand in the past used as a cure for various ailments) and clear water
Easy walking and trekking in the surrounding mountains not surpassing 700 metres
Horse-riding in the new equestrian centre of nearby Macomer
Cycling in the plain below Bortigali with unpretentious and unique villages offering their specialties, be they food and wine, handicrafts or mural paintings
Excursions following the seasons in search of wild asparagus, mushrooms, figs, or just spectacular natural views including the nuraghe - dwellings, defences, sacred and burial places dating from some 3000 years ago, still intact and awe-inspiring
Bortigali and the surrounding areas offer a wide range of eateries: traditional local food (pork, wild boar, mutton, bread, cheese, sweets and wine), pizzerias and agriturismo with lavish set menus
